Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.

The Sill is Northumberland’s landscape discovery centre at Once Brewed, planted in the middle of the Hadrian’s Wall country. It’s free to go in, with exhibitions on the geology and history, a café, a youth hostel and a grass roof you can walk up for a wide view over the Wall crags. It makes a handy base for the central Wall walks toward Steel Rigg and Sycamore Gap, with the Twice Brewed Inn just across the road.
