The Vine is a mellow 18th-century hotel set back in gardens on the edge of Skegness, dating from around 1770 and reckoned the oldest secular building in the town. Alfred, Lord Tennyson knew it, and tradition has him writing in the garden, where an old tree still carries his name. It’s a Batemans house, so the beer comes from the family brewery over at nearby Wainfleet.
