Ducks turn on a spit in front of the bar fire at the French Horn, a riverside restaurant-with-rooms run by the Emmanuel family since 1972. It stands where the Thames divides at Sonning, its terrace and dining room looking across the water to the willows. This is a dressed-up dinner rather than a casual pint. Wargrave station is a few kilometres to the north-east.
