A Tudor house grown up among the remains of a medieval manor at Rotherfield Greys, with a 14th-century tower and a rare Tudor donkey wheel still standing in the grounds. The walled gardens run to old roses, an ornamental kitchen garden and a wisteria walk that peaks in late spring; there’s a small brick-path maze too. National Trust, paid entry, in the Chilterns west of Henley-on-Thames.
