A cluster of brick-and-timber houses runs down to the Thames at Sonning, crossed by a narrow, many-arched medieval brick bridge. The old mill on its own island is now a theatre with a restaurant attached, and the Bull Inn stands by the church. It’s a well-kept village, good for a slow riverside loop.
