The Bell stands by the bridge over the River Monnow at Skenfrith, across from the castle. It’s a coaching inn with rooms that cooks seasonal food, much of it from its own kitchen garden. A good base for the three Monmouthshire castles — Skenfrith, Grosmont and White Castle — that ring this quiet corner. Abergavenny station is about 17km away.
