St Bridget’s stands beside the Monnow at Skenfrith, next to the castle, with a squat stone tower topped by a timber-framed belfry. Inside it keeps a rare embroidered cope, said to be late medieval, and a canopied Jacobean pew for the local squire. Skenfrith was one of the Three Castles alongside Grosmont, and the two churches make a good pair to visit.
