Ben Venue is the shapely hill that closes the west end of the Trossachs, standing 730m above the meeting of Loch Katrine and Loch Achray. It’s a Graham — a Scottish hill between 2,000 and 2,500 feet — with two rocky little summits and a lot more character than its modest height suggests. Walter Scott set ‘The Lady of the Lake’ in this scenery and sent generations of visitors here, and the outlook from the top over Loch Katrine and the wooded Trossachs is a fine one. Most people climb it from the Loch Achray side or from near Kinlochard; the paths are decent lower down but rough and steep near the tops.
