Aberfoyle sits at the southern edge of the Trossachs, where the road up from the lowlands meets the hills and the young River Forth. It’s a handy base for Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, with the Lodge visitor centre just above the village and forest trails spreading out from it. The Duke’s Pass climbs north from here towards Loch Katrine. Plenty of tearooms and craft shops line the main street.
