Out on the open moor of Stapeley Hill stands Mitchell’s Fold, a Bronze Age circle of dolerite stones raised more than 3,000 years ago. Around fifteen of an original thirty or so survive, the tallest once half of a paired entrance. It’s in English Heritage’s care but sits on free open moor near the Welsh border, a short walk up from the lane. Free to visit.
