Places to explore in FalkirkScotland · Central Scotland
Falkirk lies in Scotland's narrow waist, the coal-and-iron country between the firths of Forth and Clyde, where two great canals meet. Their junction is now marked by The Falkirk Wheel, a rotating boat lift that carries vessels between the two. Nearby the giant horse-head sculptures of The Kelpies rise over The Helix Park. The Romans drew their northern frontier through here, and stretches of the Antonine Wall survive in the town's parks. On the Forth shore the artillery fortress of Blackness Castle juts into the firth like a stone ship.
