Callendar House is a grand mansion remodelled in French-chateau style, set in its own parkland on the edge of Falkirk. Inside is a free museum tracing the district’s long story, from Roman times through the Jacobite risings. The park around the house is open access and free, with a boating loch, mature woodland and play areas, and a surviving stretch of the Roman Antonine Wall runs through the grounds. Falkirk Grahamston station is about 1.5km to the north-west.
