Rotating boat lift linking two canals.
The Falkirk Wheel is the only rotating boat lift in the world, opened in 2002 to reconnect the Forth & Clyde and Union canals after some seventy years apart. It swings boats between the two waterways in one graceful turn. You can watch it work for free from the visitor centre, or book a boat trip that takes you up and over. Camelon station is about 1.5km to the north-east.
