This has to be one of Scotland’s daftest and most delightful follies: a stone pineapple some 14 metres tall crowning a garden pavilion on the Dunmore estate near Airth. The keystone below it is dated 1761. The National Trust for Scotland looks after the walled garden and grounds, open year-round and free, while the Landmark Trust rents the building itself as a holiday let. Alloa is the nearest station, about 5km to the north.
