Scotland's oldest continuously inhabited house.
Traquair House, claimed as Scotland’s oldest continually inhabited house, sits in grounds you can explore on a seasonal ticket, including a beech hedge maze (replanted after a hard winter in the 1980s) and lawns down towards the Tweed. A wing of the house holds a working brewery that has poured ale since its 1965 revival. Gardens open seasonally with an admission charge; Innerleithen and its Traquair Arms are a mile down the road.
