A prosperous Victorian cabinet-maker, Henry Trevor, dug his garden out of a disused chalk quarry just outside Norwich’s old walls from 1856. Three acres of Italianate terrace, a 30ft Gothic fountain and brick follies survive, brought back by volunteers after decades of neglect. Paid entry, close to the city centre — Norwich station is under 2km east.
