The Rosary is a Victorian cemetery on the edge of Norwich, laid out from 1819 by the nonconformist minister Thomas Drummond as a burial ground open to people of any faith — reckoned the first of its kind in the country. It’s a steep, wooded site with graves tucked among self-seeded trees and ivy rather than laid out in tidy rows, giving it a genuinely atmospheric, half-wild feel. Run by the city council as a working cemetery, it’s open to walk through during daylight hours, no ticket needed, and sits close to Norwich Castle and the city centre.
