Newhailes is an 18th-century designed landscape of woodland walks and follies wrapped around a Palladian villa, just outside Musselburgh. The National Trust for Scotland keeps the grounds open year-round, with the house on seasonal opening only. It’s a fine, quiet green space close to the city. Musselburgh station is under a kilometre away.
