Logan Botanic Garden, out on the Rhins near Port Logan, is the most exotic of Scotland’s botanic gardens. The Gulf Stream keeps it mild enough for tree ferns, cabbage palms and plants from Chile, Australia and New Zealand to grow outdoors, which feels a gorgeous surprise this far north. It’s one of the three regional gardens of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, and opens from spring to autumn with an admission charge.
