Fulham Palace was the country residence of the Bishops of London for over a thousand years, from the early 8th century until 1973, and sits inside Bishop’s Park beside the Thames. The Tudor courtyard and gatehouse date from the 1490s, and a walled garden laid out in the 1760s still grows figs and vines. Now a museum and garden run by a charitable trust, it’s free to visit daily, with the Thames Path running right past the gate.
