Laid out around 1819, Edwardes Square is one of Kensington’s prettiest garden squares, its winding paths and informal planting unusual enough at the time that the garden writer J.C. Loudon singled it out in 1822. A small Greek-temple-style lodge, once home to the resident gardener, still stands among the lawns. It’s a private residents’ garden, but opens to the public a couple of days a year through the National Garden Scheme and Open Garden Squares Weekend. Kensington (Olympia) is the nearest station.
