London's great royal park of the Serpentine and Speakers' Corner.
Open accessfree to visit at any reasonable time
Hyde Park is one of London’s eight Royal Parks, and like the rest of them it’s free to walk into at any hour between 5am and midnight. Henry VIII took it from Westminster Abbey as a hunting ground; it’s since hosted the Great Exhibition of 1851, suffragette rallies and, still today, open-air debate at Speakers’ Corner. The Serpentine lake is the natural focus, with a lido at its southern end if you fancy a swim.
