East Finchley Cemetery opened in 1854 as St Marylebone Cemetery, laid out by the architects Barnett & Birch for a parish burial board that had run out of room in central London — it only took its current name in the 1990s, and is still run, oddly, by Westminster City Council despite sitting well out in Barnet. Alongside the Victorian avenues and a Gothic mausoleum there’s a Commonwealth War Graves plot from both world wars. It’s open daily, free, and the Capital Ring path passes close by.
Full name: East Finchley Cemetery (formerly St Marylebone Cemetery)
