Fairytale turreted castle with formal gardens.
Below the fairytale turrets of Dunrobin Castle — remodelled in French style by Sir Charles Barry — lie formal gardens laid out in 1850 after the parterres of Versailles, with circular pools and fountains set against the sea. Daily falconry displays are given on the lawns in season. The castle and gardens open from April to October, admission charged, and Dunrobin Castle station is just a few hundred metres away. Golspie village, with the Golspie Inn, is a mile down the coast.
