St Cwyfan’s stands alone on the little tidal island of Cribinau, off the coast near Aberffraw, which is why everyone calls it the Little Church in the Sea. The medieval church dates from the 12th century and is reached on foot across a causeway when the tide is out; at high water it is cut off completely. It was rescued from the eroding sea in 1893, when the architect Harold Hughes paid for a protective wall around the churchyard. Bodorgan station is about 3.5km away.
