Traeth Mawr, the wide sandy bay at Aberffraw, sits behind a big dune system and is reached on foot along the River Ffraw from the village of Aberffraw. It picks up a decent swell when the wind’s in the right quarter, so surfers know it, but it stays quiet next to the island’s busier beaches. Bodorgan station is about 4.5km to the north-east.
