The registered landscape around Arundel Castle runs to roughly 480 hectares of gardens, parkland and woodland below the Sussex Downs. Inside the walls, the 38-acre gardens are the horticultural draw: the Collector Earl’s Garden with its canal and domed pergola, water gardens with stew ponds and a roundhouse, and a working organic kitchen garden. The wider park reaches out along the Monarch’s Way. Gardens open with the castle from April to November, ticketed, closed Mondays outside bank holidays and August.
