Waulkmill Bay is a sheltered sandy bay on the north shore of Scapa Flow near Orphir, backed by a small nature reserve. At low tide it opens right out into a wide expanse of firm sand and flats, good for a long walk and for watching wading birds. Getting down to it means a steep path from the car park at the road end, so it stays fairly quiet.
