A few minutes’ walk south of Peterborough Cathedral, on Bishops Road beside the River Nene, the lido opened in 1936 as the Corporation Swimming Pool. The buildings are in a Spanish hacienda style with Art Deco touches, finished off with a clock tower, and Historic England listed the lido Grade II in 1992. There are three outdoor pools, all heated: a long main pool, a teaching pool and a paddling pool, set in about two and a half acres of lawns and gardens. Vivacity runs the lido for the city council and opens it from spring to the end of September, and tickets are cheaper if you book online. Peterborough station is about 1km north-west.
