Kilve Beach is a low, rocky foreshore of grey lias ledges on the Quantock coast, well known to fossil-hunters for the ammonites in its stone. Behind the beach stand a ruined brick retort, left from a short-lived scheme to extract oil from the shale in the 1920s, and an old chantry. Open access, down a lane and field path from Kilve village.
