Lady Weigall created Jubilee Park for Woodhall Spa, and the open-air pool in it opened in 1935, when Princess Marie Louise came to mark George V’s Silver Jubilee. The pool is 33.5 metres long and 12.5 wide, and the water is heated to about 29°C, so swimming is comfortable even early and late in the season. Since 2014 a not-for-profit community company has run the park and pool on a 99-year lease from the parish council, as a charity with no regular public funding. The season runs from April to November, longer than at most outdoor pools, and swims are booked online. While you’re in the village, the Kinema in the Woods, an old cinema among the trees that still shows films, is a short walk east.
