Cheltenham Lido was long called Sandford Parks Lido, the name still on its listing. G. Gould Marsland designed the lido for Cheltenham Borough Council, the mayor opened it on 25 May 1935, and a café followed the next year. The main pool is just over 50 m long, with a decorative fountain, and sits in about four acres of gardens. When Historic England listed the lido at Grade II in 2019, one reason was the plant room, where boilers and compressors from the original installation still work. A charitable trust took over on a lease from the council in 1996, and a Heritage Lottery Fund grant paid for restoration from 2006. The pools are heated, and the season runs from late March to early October; book your swim online. Cheltenham Spa station is about 2km west, and the Regency Pittville Pump Room is about 2km north.
