Substantial ruinsruined, but plenty survives above ground
One of very few Scottish churches to come through the Reformation unaltered, Tullibardine Chapel stands alone in a pine-shaded graveyard a couple of miles from Auchterarder. Sir David Murray built it in 1446 as the family’s private church; his grandson added transepts and a squat bell tower around 1500, and the timber roof above you is largely medieval. Look for masons’ marks and Murray coats of arms inside. It stopped being a working church in 1560 and served as the family burial place into the 1900s. Free, open daily through the summer and shut over winter; the approach crosses working farmland.
