Dunning is a quiet Strathearn village built around St Serf’s Church, whose square Romanesque tower dates from about 1200. Inside, cared for by Historic Environment Scotland, stands the carved Dupplin Cross, one of the finest Pictish crosses in Scotland. In a field just west of the village a stark cairn marks where Maggie Wall was reputedly burnt as a witch in 1657. Gleneagles station is about 10km south-west.
