Fowlis Wester is a small conservation village on the moor east of Crieff, gathered around a green and its old parish church. A tall Pictish cross-slab stands in the square — a replica, with the weathered original kept inside the church for safety. It’s a modest, out-of-the-way place worth the short detour off the main road. Gleneagles is the nearest station, about 14km south.
