Crieff is a hillside Victorian spa town on the southern edge of the Highlands, long a stop on the cattle-droving roads south. Just outside it, Glenturret lays claim to being Scotland’s oldest working distillery, with roots back to 1763 and a visitor centre for tours. The sprawling Crieff Hydro has been putting up visitors since the 1860s. Gleneagles is the nearest station, about 13km south-east.
