A nunnery once stood here in Cumbria — the remains now lie below ground. It is the only nunnery the Albion Guide charts in the county. The surrounding countryside is part of the Lake District National Park. For arrivals by rail, Bootle (Cumbria) Station is 1.5 km to the south-west.
