Saxtead Green Post Mill
Open to visitorsan English Heritage site — check opening times and admission before you go
A gleaming white weatherboarded post mill on Saxtead Green, first raised around 1796 and rebuilt several times since. The whole body pivots on its brick roundhouse to face the wind, worked by a fantail at the back. English Heritage looks after it and you can normally climb the steep wooden stairs through the machinery — though it has been closed for conservation work, so check before making the trip.
