Ruthin keeps its medieval street plan, the lanes climbing to St Peter’s Square where timber-framed and Georgian fronts stand around St Peter’s Church. It’s a working market town in the Vale of Clwyd with a good run of independent shops, and the Victorian Ruthin Gaol nearby is open to look round.
