Potter Heigham is a boating centre on the River Thurne, best known for its medieval bridge — a low, narrow arch that hire boats can pass only near low water, usually with a pilot aboard. Boatyards and moorings cluster around it. The village church has a round Norman tower, a form common across this part of Norfolk.
