Pitlochry grew into a Victorian resort town once the railway arrived, and it still bustles with visitors on its main street above the River Tummel. The dam of 1951 created Loch Faskally and carries a salmon ladder, where you can watch fish climbing past through a viewing chamber. The Festival Theatre draws people all summer, and tiny Edradour, one of Scotland’s smallest distilleries, sits just east. The station is right in town.
