Petworth is a town of narrow streets and antique shops pressed against the wall of Petworth Park. The great house, National Trust, holds twenty Turner oils — the largest collection outside the Tate — and its 700-acre deer park was laid out by Capability Brown. Midhurst is a short drive west. Pulborough station is about 7km south-east.
