Midhurst is a Tudor market town of timbered frontages beside the Rother, its streets full of old inns and independent shops. Across the causeway sprawl the ruins of Cowdray House, a great Tudor mansion gutted by fire in 1793. Easebourne and Petworth are close by. Liphook is the nearest station, about 10km north-west.
