Minstead is a scattered New Forest hamlet around a green and the Trusty Servant pub. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes, is buried in the churchyard of All Saints, a quirky church with a three-decker pulpit. Furzey Gardens, with its azaleas and thatched cottage, is close by. Ashurst New Forest station is about 6km to the east.
