Two things made Melton Mowbray’s name: the hand-raised pork pie and Stilton cheese, both still produced around the town. Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe has been raising pies here since 1851, and The Melton Cheeseboard stocks the local blue among many others. A general market runs on Tuesdays, as it has for centuries. The station is just south of the centre.
