Reputedly England’s smallest town, Manningtree is really a row of Georgian houses and pubs along the Stour, where the river widens into the reed beds of Dedham Vale. It’s a short walk or a mile or two from Dedham and Mistley on either side. The station is up the hill to the north-west.
