Once a stannary town where tin was weighed and stamped, and in the Middle Ages effectively Cornwall’s capital, Lostwithiel sits on the River Fowey below the round keep of Restormel Castle. A narrow medieval bridge still carries the road over the water, and the streets are known for their antique shops. The station is on the main line, a short walk from the centre.
