Steep estuary town of du Maurier fame.
Daphne du Maurier settled near Fowey and set much of her writing along this coast; the town holds a festival in her name each May. It is a steep, working port on its own wooded estuary, with medieval and Georgian houses stacked above the water. A passenger ferry crosses to Polruan opposite, and Par station is about 5km to the north-west.
