Giant biome domes in a former clay pit.
The Eden Project fills a worked-out china clay pit near St Austell with two huge linked biomes — one a tropical rainforest, one Mediterranean — plus outdoor gardens across the crater sides. It opened in 2001 and drew close to two million visitors in its first year. Paid entry, open most of the year. Par station is under 3km away, with a bus link up the hill.
