Polruan stacks up the hillside at the mouth of the Fowey estuary, opposite Fowey itself. There’s no bridge — a passenger ferry shuttles across the water between the two, and it’s the usual way in. From the quay you can watch boats working in and out of the harbour, and steep lanes and steps climb from the waterfront to the ruined blockhouse above the estuary mouth.
